I am a big proponent of long range pistol craft (as well as stong and weak handed shooting). I regularly shoot (before I sold all my guns) out to 100, 200 and 300 yds with my 10mm. The 10mm will fire the same bullets as the .40 with about 30+ percent more velocity/energy. It will shoot flat out past 100yds and requires very little hold over out to 300yds. If you have never tried your hand at long range pistol craft, I highly recommend it! Bx3:coolbeer:

Impressive but not spectacular. Looks to be about a 3 foor diameter gong. I know I can hit a LaRue tactical about 50% of the time at 100 yards with my P7M8 and today I was hitting an 18 inch gong at 100 yards with a CZ 52. He is right however, it is a matter of sight picture and trigger control...if you want to be that good all it takes is practice. And of course some knowledge of ballistics helps if you don't want to have to walk the rounds in...lol.

Re: Glock 23 At 230 Yards

Considering that at that range the front site and slide (angled for elevation) are completely covering up that gong, I would say it is VERY impressive. Most people can't even hit a target like that with a rifle unsupported. You are right however in that all it takes is practice.....lots of practice. BTW, the ballistic arc and effects of sight alignment on a pistol round from 100yds to 230yds is exponential and therefore hardly comparable.

If that is a 4x4 in the background, I'd say that gong is about 2 feet in diameter. BTW, this is his own personal range...

Just dropped in to browse and noticed someone posted a thread on my recent video. Appreciate the kind words and am glad many of you enjoy my lead slinging. I just enjoy doing them; mostly I just mess around with my guns like I always have. My son convinced me to post one or two about a year or so ago. From there, I've just started doing more.

I didn't realize it would be anything that interesting to people or I could have done them years ago. Kind of fun; it give me an excuse to play!

I can't believe I've actually stuck almost 40 of these things up there, and I have quite a few on my To-Do list.

I get lots of message and comments wanting me to do videos with just about every gun out there. Thus far, I'm just dragging my own toys out. If you have any suggestions of things you'd like to see done, pass it along, preferably as a personal message on YouTube if you have an account.

I answer all my personal messages on there, but sometimes the comments come so fast and furious under specific videos that I actually miss them. I'm on dial-up at home and have to go elsewhere to post or manage mail very efficiently.

Again, thanks for the support. And believe me, there's no funny business on that long range G23 video, other than the gods smiling down on me. I told my son to not zoom in until I'd shot five times and hopefully hit it. I didn't want someone who doesn't know me to think I might have a scope-sighted rifle lying there out of camera sight! :-)

Fortunately, I got a couple on it before he zoomed.

That is amazing shooting for that gun. That would be a hell of a shot with a 44 mag with open sights.

Anyone that does not appreciate the skill has never shot a pistol at long range. Most gun guys I know would have a hard time shooting a rifle off hand with open sights and hitting 50% at that range.

That guy can shoot.

Even if scaled back to....call in 50 yards / 230 yards....assume even a 30 inch diam plate = 30 x (50/230) = that is a 6 inch plate at 50 yards. In NRA Conventional Pistol "bullseye" - we shoot 45 ACP, unsupported 1 hand at 50 yards outdoors....the black diameter (7, 8, 9 , 10/X on slow fire target) is 8.0 inch diameter. To shoot 8 ring or better is 6 inch diameter.....the very top quality Master/Expert shooters will average about 90 (a few 8's mostly 9's and some 10's/X).....and that is with a $1500 - $2000 45ACP target pistol that will group 1.5" at 50 yards from a machine rest.

To take a bone stock Glock and deliver 8 ring performance is pretty good

I love Hickok, if nothing else for the range he built right outside his house. Seems like a real good guy and very inspiring. I love watching his videos.

Ah, please, I can hock a loogie that far, blindfolded, into the wind, during a hurricane, after eating a table spoon of cinnamon.
